Sri Lanka Artillery Marks its 131st Regimental Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony to Revere War Heroes

The prime event of marking the celebration of 131st Regimental Anniversary got underway at the Regimental Monument, Panagoda on 20 April 2019 by paying tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery.

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and he was warmly welcomed by the Colonel Commandant - Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General Rukmal Dias.

The Chief Guest, Colonel Commandant, Centre Commandant, All Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors and next of kin of those who made supreme sacrifice laid floral wreaths to denote their respect and gratitude to officers and men who sacrificed their lives for the future of the Mother Land.

In the evening, Overnight Pirith Chanting ceremony was began and concluded with the offer of alms giving to Maha Sanga on 21 Sunday morning where religious blessings were invoked on the heroic Gunners who were killed in action and wounded in action.

A large gathering of serving and retired Gunner officers, other rankers and families of war heroes took part in the day's events.
