2019-06-27Major General D A R Ranawaka RSP ndu IG assumed office as the 16th Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka National Guard on 26 June 2019 in a brief ceremony held at Regimental Headquarters, Kurunegala.
He reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by the Regimental Headquarters and as a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Major General Raj Ranawaka placed his signature for a formal document in a presence of senior officers and staff of RHQ after a brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp.
Then he revered the fallen war heroes of the Regiment by laying a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument expressing his utmost concern towards them and accepted the Regimental salute accorded by members of the Regiment of Sri Lanka National Guard.
The day's events also textured with planting a tree sapling, troop address, Commanding Officers' and Staff Officers' Briefing.
