The Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch & Acknowledgement of Grade 5 Scholarship Winners took place on the 13th of February 2021 amidst a small scale gathering of members at the Artillery Officers’ Mess – Panagoda.

School stationery items, Shoes and bank deposits worth of Rs.5000.00 were donated for children who got through in their Grade 5 Scholarship in year 2020. The traditional oil lamp was lit by the president, other senior members, Centre Commandant and The Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery. Although there were 61 scholarship students belonging to this regiment, only 11 participated due to the current Corona virus situation in the country.

Then Annual General Meeting was held with the safety precautions given by the Government and the Army Headquarters. At the outset of the welcoming ceremony, a two-minute silence was observed paying respect to the fallen heroes of the nation. Thereafter Mrs. Krishani Dissanayake delivered the welcome speech. Then The President announced the new executive committee and the working committee for the year 2021.

Afterwards, the president Mrs Shyamini Kotuwegoda addressed the audience and highlighted the vision and objectives of the Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch and shared her views mentioning that the members of the branch should put hand in hand and help in uplifting the welfare of the soldiers and their families, also empowering army wives of the Gunner family.

As an honour to the ladies present at the event, a momentous was presented to each one of them by Mrs. Shyamini Kotuwegoda in appreciation of their strength and encouragement they give their Military spouse “Gunner Officers”.

Mrs Shanthi Abesekara, Public Relations Officer delivered the vote of thanks making the end of the day’s proceedings.
