The War Heroes Event

In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch the president Mrs Ludmila de Silva and members of the branch paid tribute to 330 differently able soldiers on the 16 Dec 19 by inviting them to a movie, which was screened at Regal Cinema, Colombo sponsored by Ceylon Theaters (Pvt) Ltd. there after they were ushered in for lunch hosted by Hilton Colombo.

The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc and Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of this illustrious event. The movie “PANIPATH” began after the traditional oil lamp was lit by the chief guest.

The differently able soldiers who attended this memorable event are resident inmates of the three “Abimansala” wellness resort located in Anuradhapura, Pangolla & Kamburupitiya and the Ragama Ranaviru Sevana Rehabilitation centre, Mihindu Seth Medura - Aththidiya and from eight Regiments.

Adding glamour and entertainment to the event, veteran artiest of the music industry of Sri Lanka such as Mr Sunil Perera, Mr Nalin Perera, Mrs Uresha Ravihari, Mrs Raini Charuka, Mr Lahiru Perera sang for the heroes and comedians Mr Ranga Jayakodi , Mr Chamal Rathnayake performed a humorous skit to the audience. Mrs Lanka Perera compered the event and music was provided by the Gunners’ beat group. The members of the Sri Lanka Army’s Cultural Troupe performed with dancers arranged to the rhythm of the artist who perform in honor of the gallant heroes.
