New Chairperson Assumed Duties in Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch

Mrs Sudharma Manawaduge assumed office as 12th President of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch on 30th January 2016. A ceremony was organized at the Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda to mark the occasion, giving priorities to religious observances. Mrs Manolanka Wickramrathne, the Vice Prasident, handed over the duties to Mrs Sudharma Manawaduge at the auspicious time extending warm wishes of all members to the new president.

Taking over ceremony was followed by a General Meeting which commenced with observing two minutes silence to commemorate War Heroes who sacrifice their lives for the motherland. New chairperson set alight to the traditional oil lamp with other senior members denoting the swearing in of her work with Seva Vanitha Branch.

Mrs Sudharma Manawaduge addressing the gathering, made a brief description of the initiatives she wishes to implement during her tenure as the President of Seva Vanitha Branch. She explained that her priority is with providing benefits to the war heroes and their families and requested the assistance of all members to make her efforts a success. New executive committee was also appointed during the General Meeting. Mrs Thanuja Dias, Mrs Sandya Napagoda and Mrs Yashanti Weerawadhana were elected as Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch respectively.

Awarding of Scholarship and prices for Children of the gunner family who secured highest achievements in Grade Five Scholarships Examination in 2015 was featured in the days programme signifying the nobility of the ceremony.
