Lt Col G R R K S Jayarathne RSP psc IG SLA assumed duties as the 23rd Commanding Officer of 6th Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery on 21 March 2023 at Headquarters, 6th Field Regiment, Panagoda.

Programme for assuming duties commenced with reviewing the Guard Turnout. Lt Col G R R K S Jayarathne RSP psc IG SLA placed his signature on a formal document after a brief religious observance as a symbolic gesture of taking over the command. The day's event included planting a sapling (Mangifera Indica), all ranks tea and camp visit.
