Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG Takes Over the Command of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force
2018-10-25Major General GRH Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG assumed duties as the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force after formal military formalities being accomplished in keeping with military traditions at the Volunteer Force Headquarters premises at Kosgama.
The day's proceedings scheduled in connection with the commencement of the Office as the Commandant began on his arrival to the venue. After reviewing the Guard Turnout, the Chief Guest was ushered to the saluting dais by Major General L F Kasthuriarachchi, Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. The Guard of Honour was accorded in his honour by the troops of Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery at the parade ground of the Volunteer Force where the Commandant took the Salute of the organization.
Invoking the blessings of the maha sangha, religious rites and rituals were accomplished in the Office of the Commandant. Amidst chanting of Seth Pirith by the maha sanga, Major General GRH Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of the Office on his new appointment at the auspicious time.
Afterwards, the Commandant addresses the troops followed by the sapling of a tree to signify his inauguration of the Office and a tea attended by all invitees, Officers and Other Ranks.
