Lt Col L A R Gunaratne RSP USP IG SLA assumed office as the 21st Commanding Officer of 7th Light Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery on 11 February 2019 at Headquarters 7th Light Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, Minneriya.

Programme for assuming duties commenced with reviewing the Guard Turnout presented by the Unit. Then as a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Lt Col L A R Gunaratne RSP USP IG SLA placed his signature for a formal document after a brief religious observance.
