Col M K U P Gunaratne RSP psc IG assumed office as the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 14 February 2019 in a simple ceremony held at Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.

Col M K U P Gunaratne RSP psc IG placed his signature for a formal document in a presence of Regimental staff to signify the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of the new appointment after a brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp. The day's events also textured with an Officers and staff address at Regimental Headquarters.
