Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery warmly welcomed Commander of the Army
2019-08-08Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Commander of the Army visited the Regimental Headquarters - Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 08 August 2019.
Maj Gen WRP de Silva VSV USP ndu IG, Colonel Commandant - Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, welcomed the visiting Army Chief on arrival at the Regimental Headquarters premises.
In accordance with military formalities, the Commander of the Army reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery and accepted the Regimental salute accorded by members of the Regiment in a Guard of Honour which included Regimental Colours.
He was afterwards invited to add unforgettable memories of his visit by laying foundation stone for building which was proposed in order to enhance the RHQ SLA office complex. The day's events also textured with planting sapling, Briefing on Majors' Block, Troop address by the Commander of the Army at Regimental Headquarters premises. Large number of Officers and ORs were present to witness the ceremony.
Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake during his address to the troops at Regimental Centre, paid tribute to the memory of numerous sacrifices, made by War Heroes at the risk of their own lives, blood, sweat, legs and limbs during the fight against terrorism. He also spelt out measures that have been implemented by him for the professional development, training modules, welfare programmes and civil-military support in the Army in the past few months and present security state of the country.
