Major General A S Hewawitharana RSP USP ndc IG assumed office as the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC)

Major General A S Hewawitharana RSP USP ndc IG assumed office as the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) on 19 April 2020 during a simple ceremony at the MIC Regimental Centre, Karandeniya.

As a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Major General Shantha Hewawitharana placed his signature for a formal document in a presence of senior officers and staff of RHQ after a brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp.

The day's events also textured with planting a tree sapling, troop address, Briefing by the Centre Commandant, Commandant - MITS, Staff Officers' and visit to MITS premises.
