The Regiment of Artillery won the championship of 55th Army Road Race
2020-09-26The Army Road Race - 2020, which was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee, was flagged off by Lieutenant General LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak as the Chief Guest at the Army Headquarters entrance on 26 September 2020 with 125 participants, representing 17 Regiments, and ran via Diyatha Uyana, Battaramulla, Malabe, Athurugiriya, Habarakada, and ended near the Army Gymnasium at Panagoda covering approximately a distance of about 22 km.
Afterwards, the day's Chief Guest was invited to award medals and trophies to achievers in the Road Race, together with Major General Jagath Gunawardene, Chief of Staff and Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Sports Committee and Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Chairman of Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee.
The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery became the Overall Champions of the event having scored 56 points. The Artillery team consists with seven athletes and they performed exceptionally well to become the champions and Colonel Commandant and all ranks of the Regiment of Artillery congratulates all athletes on their outstanding performances and thanked all officials and trainees for their extended support towards success of the Regiment.
