COLONEL COMMANDANT'S VISIT TO ARTILLERY COMPLEX - MINNERIYA
2020-11-24The Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda ndc IG paid his maiden visit to the Artillery Complex Minneriya on 22 and 23 November 2020 after assumed the duties.
On arrival, the Colonel Commandant was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the School of Artillery entrance and welcomed by the Commandant School of Artillery. Commenced with the programme, Commander Artillery Brigade delivered a welcome speech. The Commandant School of Artillery made a brief presentation on training and administrative aspects followed by the briefings of CO 7 SLA and OIC Gunners Club on their relevant fields.
During the troops address, Colonel Commandant conveyed his vision and stressed the importance of training in different professional aspects of the career and maintenance of the highest standards of discipline.
During the field visit inspect the progress of constructions and renovations going on at the School of Artillery followed by the HQ Arty Bde, 7 SLA premises and Artillery EME Bn. He has highlighted the enhancement of infrastructure facilities especially concerning on the Officers and Other Ranks accommodations.
He witnessed a demonstration on trial version of novel target system installed at the School of Artillery Miniature Range based on Android Operating System (V1.0). Furthermore, his keen interest on sport activities was evident when he has given instructions to upgrade some sporting arenas such as Cricket Ground, Basketball Court, Squash Court and Tennis Court located in the Artillery Complex. The two day's itinerary was concluded with an interaction session with all officers in the Artillery Complex held at the Officers' Mess.
