Lt Col AHMT Gunaratne RSP psc SLA assumed duties as 22nd Commanding Officer of 6th Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 9 August 2021 at Headquarters 6th Field Regiment, Wathupitiwala.

Program for assuming duties commenced with reviewing the Guard Turnout. As an emblematic gesture of taking over the command, Lt Col AHMT Gunaratne RSP psc SLA placed his signature for a formal document after a brief religious observance. The day's event itinerary included planting of a mango sapling, troops address and all ranks tea at the RHQ premises.
