Colonel Commandant's Visit to Artillery Complex, Minneriya
2022-02-28The Commander, Security Forces - Mullaitivu and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Artillery,
Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu paid his maiden visit to the Artillery Complex
Minneriya on 24 February 2022.
On arrival, the Colonel Commandant was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the School of Artillery
entrance and welcomed by the Commander Artillery Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Welagedara
RSP USP psc IG. Major EBRMPSK Edirisinghe RSP psc made a brief presentation on training
and administrative aspects of the School of Artillery.
During the field visit the Colonel Commandant visited the Library and witnessed a demonstration
on trial version of Novel Simulator System installed at the School of Artillery Miniature Range
based on Android Operating System. During the troops address, Colonel Commandant conveyed
his vision and stressed the importance of training in different professional aspects of the career and
maintenance of the highest standards of discipline. The day's event also textured with all Ranks tea
at the School of Artillery, followed by planting a sapling and a group photograph.
On the same day, the Colonel Commandant visited the HQ Arty Bde, Artillery EME Bn, 7 SLA
premises. On arrival the Colonel Commandant was welcomed by the Commander Artillery
Brigade and he briefed about the present duties and development of Artillery Brigade.
Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant inspected the Artillery EME Bn. In the evening, the
Colonel Commandant visited 7 SLA. He was welcomed by the Commanding Officer - 7 SLA,
Lieutenant Colonel HCS Harishchandra RWP USP psc IG. During the field visit, the Colonel
Commandant inspected the Equipment Room at School of Artillery. It was followed by planting a
sapling at 7 SLA premises.
The day's itinerary was concluded with an interaction session held at the Officers' Mess with all
officers in the Artillery Complex, Minneriya.
The event took place with strictly adhering to the health guidance given to prevent COVID 19
pandemic.
