Colonel SP Malawarage RSP USP IG assumed duties as the 24th Commander of the Artillery Brigade on 21 December 2022 at the Headquarters Artillery Brigade, Minneriya.

Colonel SP Malawarage RSP USP IG was extended a guard turnout by the troops, and he assumed duties signing the formal documents amidst the blessings of priests. The incumbent Brigade Commander addressed the troops and the event was followed by a briefing by the Brigade staff. The ceremony was concluded with a group photograph and a camp visit. Commandant School of Artillery, Commanding Officers of - 7 Light Regiment and 9 Field Regiment, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (Artillery) Battalion and Officers and troops of Artillery complex Minneriya were present during the event.
