A new approach to improve the knowledge of Officers while bringing out practical solutions to important issues in the AOR

The Officers' Training Day for the First Quarter of the Year 2023 was held under the direction and guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wipula Chandrasiri RSP USP psc on 08 April 2023 at the Conference Hall of the 241 Infantry Brigade, Akkaraipattu.

The Under command Battalions of the Division were initially directed to conduct a comprehensive study on timely important and pertinent issues in their respective AOR and to forward findings on their areas of research. The motive of undertaking this endeavor was mainly to identify economic, social, religious and other related issues come across by the military while performing duties in their respective AOR and to suggest/recommend viable solutions to overcome or mitigate those. The areas of research are as follows:

a. Historical background of AMPARA District - 8 SLNG.
b. Potentials and challenges of the Tourism Industry in AMPARA District - 18 VIR.
c. Social and Economic issues in AMPARA district and recommended measures to overcome - 23 SLSR.
d. Challenges to ethnic, religious and cultural harmony in AMPARA District - 11 SLNG.
e. Present irrigation systems in AMPARA District - 16 SLNG.

The General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, the Commanders of 241 and 242 Infantry Brigades, Staff Officers of the 24 Infantry Division and the Brigades, Commanding Officers of under command battalions and nearly 40 x Officers were present at the Training Day.
