15 Drone Regiment Completes Drone Operators' Refresher Course No - 01

The first Drone Operators' Refresher Course ended on Wednesday (June 21) at 15 Drone Regiment SLA premises in Panaluwa from 07 - 21 June 2023 with training and instructional assistance of the School of Artillery and the unit. The course was initiated under the guidance of Major General W A S S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Artillery.

The refresher course encompassed a range of essential areas including introduction, Military use, Basic Aeronautical knowledge, Flight Regulations, Safety protocols, Advance piloting techniques, Aerial Photography and Videography, 3D/2D mapping with Lidar Technology and other important aspects. A total of 4 Officers and 25 Other Ranks completed the training whilst O/70957 Captain R M R C Rathnayake SLA was awarded for the best all round student Officer and S/167181 Gunner Gunarathne DA secured the best student Other Ranker in the refresher training. Lt Col W A S M Wijayalath RSP psc IG the Commanding Officer of 15 Drone Regiment SLA graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the closing address.
