GUNNERS’ CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION - 2024
2024-10-21The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, under the patronage of the President of the Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, organized a donation program providing school bags, shoes, and stationery to 100 needy children of Other Ranks and Civil servants within the Regiment. The event took place on 18 October 2024, at the 4th Artillery Regiment Auditorium.
This noble initiative brought immense value to those most deserving of care, attention, and affection, aligning with the theme of “Children’s Day: The Best Things for Children.” Out of the 100 children, thirty children along with their families, participated in the event symbolizing the broader effort of the donation.
Donors and members of Gunners Tribe generously contributed over Rs 800,000 worth of school supplies, including shoes and bags, for this worthy cause.
The event featured a donation ceremony, followed by a tea party, Gunners’ Kids’ Talent Show, and lunch. The Commandant of the Volunteer Forces & Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, along with Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo and other officers and Seva Vanitha members, worked tirelessly to manage donors and ensure the event’s success.
Comdt, AVF and Col Comdt together with the Centre Commandant, Artillery few Senior Officers and Seva Vanitha members graced the occasion with their presence.
Finally, the Colonel Commandant and the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch extended their heartfelt thanks to all donors and members for their invaluable support.
