DRY RATION PACKETS AND COCONUT PLANTS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME, 2024

14 Rocket Regiment of the Sri Lanka Artillery, with the generous contribution of the Silvermill Foundation, successfully organized a donation programme on 24 October 2024 at Kalankuttiya, and the aim of this programme is to support 20 pregnant mothers and 80 farmers. The event focused on distributing dry ration packets, coconut saplings, home garden essentials, and fertilizer bags to promote family welfare and sustainability.

This noble initiative, spearheaded by the Silvermill Foundation as a request made by the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Force and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, which is led by its President, Major General Shiran Abeysekara (Retd) RSP USP, donating all the essential items and 700 coconut saplings.

Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Commandant of the Volunteer Force and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Major General Shiran Abeysekara (Retd) RSP USP. The Centre Commandant, the Commander Artillery Brigade, Commanding Officer 14 SLA, and Senior Officers/ Officers, representatives from the Silvermill Foundation, also participated in the event.

The event featured a demonstration of planting coconut saplings, followed by distribution of dry ration packets, coconut saplings, home garden essentials, and fertilizer bags to the beneficiaries. A significant moment of the day was the planting of coconut saplings by both Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG and Major General Shiran Abeysekara (Rtd) RSP USP, symbolizing a commitment to environmental and economic sustainability.
