MAJOR GENERAL K V N P PREMARATNE RSP USP psc ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE 24th COLONEL COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARTILLERY

Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 24th Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 02 January 2025 at Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda. Also, at present Major General Nilantha Premaratne RSP USP psc holding the appointment as the Commander Security Forces (EAST).

Commencement of the ceremony marked by laying a flower wreath to the fallen war heroes at the Regimental Monument. A Guard turnout and Guard of Honour were accorded to the incumbent Colonel Commandant by the Troops of the Regiment.

As a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP psc placed his signature to a formal document in the presence of Council members, Commanding Officers, other officers and Regimental Centre staff after a brief religious rituals and lighting of the traditional oil lamp. Thereafter, the Colonel Commandant planted a sapling of Mango to mark the official inauguration as the Colonel Commandant of the Artillery followed by group photograph and All Ranks Tea at the 4th Field Regiment premises. The day's event culminated after Troop address at the 4th Field Regiment premises.
