Maj Gen M J R S Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG assumed duties as the 39th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy

Maj Gen M J R S Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, officially assumed duties as the 39th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy On 10 February 2025. The ceremony started with a warm welcome, including a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour at the Academy's 'A' gate and Parade Ground. The Commandant also honored fallen war heroes by laying a wreath at the War Memorial.

Following the formalities, Maj Gen Rohan Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG proceeded to his office, where he undertook the official assumption of duties, marking a new chapter in the leadership of SLMA. Addressing the Academy personnel in two dedicated sessions at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium, he underscored the vital role of trainee officer cadets, emphasizing their responsibility in embracing the training offered at the Academy. In a subsequent Troop Address, he highlighted the importance of dedicated service, discipline and professionalism among all ranks, reaffirming the Academy’s mission to produce competent and disciplined military leaders.

A traditional tea party followed at the Headquarters, with the presence of the Deputy Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers, NCOs, Cadets, and Civil Staff attending. The event concluded with an interaction session marking a momentous occasion with all the participants.
