Farewell Ceremony to Major General D P Welagedara RSP USP psc IG
2025-03-28Gunner family bid farewell to Major General D P Welagedara RSP USP psc IG on 28 March 2025. The farewell ceremony was held at the Artillery Regimental Centre, in accordance with the customs and rich traditions of the Gunners.
The ceremony began with laying a flower wreath at the Regimental Monument to pay tribute to the fallen war heroes. The Troops of the Regiment accorded a Guard turnout and a Farewell Parade to Major General Major General D P Welagedara RSP USP psc IG. The Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess hosted a tea party and the all ranks lunch was at 4th Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery to honour the retiring Senior Officer.
The day’s events were concluded with a Guest Night hosted by the Officers of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery at the Officers’ Mess. The Adjutant General and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Senior Officers, Officers and their spouses were present.
