11TH REGIMENT SRI LANKA ARTILLERY (RFT) CELEBRATED THE 27 PROUD YEARS OF JOURNEY
2025-08-01The 11th Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery (RFT), proudly commemorates its 27th Anniversary with a series of spiritually uplifting, competitive, and unifying events held from 26th to 30th July 2025. Commencing with a Kiripidu Pooja and Milk Rice Almsgiving that held for over 5,000 devotees at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Premises, Anuradhapura, troops of 11 SLA commemorated the fallen war heroes and invoked blessings for the Regiment’s continued service to the nation on 26th July 2025. Simultaneously, a donation programmes were held at Shanthom Elders’ Home and Sebamalai Mariyanni House of Compassion (Orphanage) at Mannar. The event was succeeded mainly as a result of the generous contribution coordinated by Lt Col A R S De Silva RSP USP psc IG SLA, Former Commanding Officer. Thereafter, a solemn Pooja at the Thiruketheeswaram Kovil, Mannar, was also conducted, symbolizing unity and religious harmony at the evening hours. A Thanksgiving Mass was held at the historic national sacred shrine of Our Lady of Madu, seeking divine guidance for the Regiment’s future endeavours on 27th early morning. An all-Ranks Get-Together was held with the participation of all Officers and ORs of the Regiment on same date. Subsequently, the Regiment hosted an exciting Inter-Battery Softball Cricket Tournament, encouraging sportsmanship and teamwork among the troops on 28th July 2025. In accordance with military traditions, a ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented to the Commanding Officer, Lt Col BMR Ferdinandesz psc IG, on 30th July 2025 marking the pinnacle of the anniversary celebrations and a sapling was planted, symbolizing growth, resilience, and the Regiment’s enduring legacy. The Commanding Officer addressed the troops, acknowledging troops dedication and sacrifices, followed by a hearty All Ranks Lunch, strengthening bonds within the Regimental family that marked the termination of the Anniversary programme.
