GUNNERS GRAPPLE GLORY AT THE 49TH NATIONAL GAMES – 2025

Artillery Soldiers Shine in Men’s Wrestling Events in a resounding display of strength, skill, and perseverance, two gallant soldiers from the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery brought glory to the Regiment by securing podium finishes at the 49th National Games – 2025.

S/164813 L/Bdr Dakshika MT, representing the Western Province in the fiercely contested 57kg weight category, showcased outstanding performance and tenacity throughout the tournament to clinch the Gold Medal and was also named the Best Athlete in his weight class.

Joining him on the national podium was S/163385 L/Bdr Sandaruwan TAC, who competed in the 61kg weight category on behalf of the Eastern Province. With commendable grit and determination, he secured the Bronze Medal, earning a well-deserved third place in a highly competitive bracket.

These achievements not only underscore the personal dedication and discipline of the two athletes but also reflect the rising excellence of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment in national sports. Their performances are a testament to the strength, resilience, and fighting spirit instilled through military training, proving once again that Gunners excel both in combat and competition.
