TROOPS OF 7TH LIGHT REGIMENT OF SRI LANKA ARTILLERY ENGAGED IN MERITORIOUS ACTIVITIES AT SRI ANANDARAMAYA, MAHARATHMALE – MINNERIYA

The 7th Light Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery, under the initiative of Mrs. Vindya Premaratne, President of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch, and guidance of Maj Gen KVNP Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, launched the construction of a long-awaited Sanghawasaya at Sri Anandaramaya Temple Maharathmale, Minneriya. The project was carried out with the participation of villagers and generous financial support from Mrs. Sherni Samah Wijesinghe, in memory of her late husband, Mr. Shelton Jayasuriya.

The programme commenced on 07 August 2025 with a dhamma sermon, followed by the distribution of refreshments and dinner packs to nearly 350 devotees. On the following day, almsgiving was offered to the Maha Sangha, along with the provision of essential items and financial assistance for the temple’s development. The troops of the 7th Light Regiment played an active role in organizing and conducting the event, reflecting their commitment to community service and religious harmony.

The event was attended by Maj Gen GPP Kulatilaka ndc, General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division, Brig TGIA Ariyaratne RSP IG, Commander Artillery Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers, members of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch, villagers, and the donor’s relatives, making it a meaningful and well supported community endeavour.
