THE PASSING OUT PARADE OF THE POST DEPOT COURSE FD – 229
2025-09-14The passing out parade of the Post Depot Course FD – 229 was successfully held on 13 September 2025 at School of Artillery, Minneriya. There were 51 well motivated soldiers joined the 'Gunner Family' after successful completion of 03 months strenuous training. S/2137296 Gnr Bandara IBMRHI of 7th Light Regiment emerged as the "Best Gunner" and he was awarded with a replica of the "Zam Zama Gun". S/2137662 Gnr Bandara IBMRHI of 7 SLA and S/2139226 Gnr Hettiarachchi HADT of 4 SLA secured the 2nd and 3rd places in the order of merit. Notably, the 1st and 2nd positions were claimed by members of the same family, making this achievement truly exceptional. The Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Major General MJRS Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG graced the occasion as the chief guest and his address during the event was undoubtedly a great motivation to all new gunners. A distinguished gathering of senior officers, including the Commander Artillery Brigade, officers, other ranks and proud family members of the newly inducted gunners, were present to witness this memorable occasion.
