OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY OF SRI LANKA ARTILLERY STRENGTHENS LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE

The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery successfully conducted its Officers’ Training Day on 18 September 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Panagoda. The programme was designed to enhance the professional development, leadership qualities, and tactical acumen of Artillery Officers, enabling them to meet the demands of modern military challenges.

The day’s proceedings were graced by the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, along with Senior Officers and Officers of the Regiment.

The training commenced with a physical training session at the Gymnasium of APTS, Panagoda, followed by the official address of the Colonel Commandant. Thereafter, a series of thought provoking and knowledge sharing lectures were delivered by various units of the Regiment:

• 8 SLA presented on “The Role of Artillery in Enhancing Sri Lanka’s National Defence Capabilities and Modernization.”

• The School of Artillery introduced the “SLA Learning Management System” highlighting its applications and benefits for officer education and training.

• 9 SLA delivered an insightful lecture on “Integrating Emerging Technologies into Artillery Systems to Enhance National Security in the Age of AI and Multi-Domain Warfare.”

The programme concluded at the Officers’ Mess with the Diners Club lecture delivered by Rear Admiral Y N Jayarathne (Retd) RSP USP ndu psc MSc (Kelaniya) MSc (Goa) on the timely topic of “Leveraging Geopolitical Tensions to Enhance National Economic Resilience and the Strategic Role of Sri Lanka as a Maritime Hub.”

The Officers’ Training Day of the Sri Lanka Artillery concluded successfully, enriching and inspiring Gunner Officers with valuable knowledge, leadership insights, and professional development guiding them towards greater glory and success.
