COLONEL COMMANDANT’S INSPIRING VISIT TO 8 SLA
2025-10-01The Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, paid an official visit to the 8th Medium Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, Kokavil, on 27 September 2025.
Adding further prestige to the occasion, the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regimental Headquarters, Sri Lanka Artillery, was also present during the visit.
The Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel V G P J Veekeliyegedara RSP USP psc IG SLA, and honoured with a Guard Turnout on arrival. The programme featured a series of noteworthy events, including the Commanding Officer’s briefing, a troop address, sapling planting, camp inspection, and an engaging interaction with officers and soldiers.
A symbolic highlight of the visit was the presentation of a memento by the Commanding Officer and all ranks of 8 SLA, expressing their heartfelt gratitude for the Colonel Commandant’s inspiring leadership and unwavering support. The occasion concluded with the Colonel Commandant penning his reflections in the visitors’ book, leaving behind a message of encouragement and vision for the future.
