Sri Lanka Artillery Athlete Wins Silver at 6th International Men’s FAJR Cup in Tehran

In a proud moment for the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, Rec Liyanagedara LGAS of the 15 SLA Unit (S/168097) represented Sri Lanka at the 6th International Men’s FAJR Cup Weightlifting Championship held in Tehran, Iran.

Competing against athletes from 10 different countries, Rec Liyanagedara delivered an outstanding performance in the 60 kg weight category, earning a Silver medal for Sri Lanka.

On 10 December 2025, following his return from the tournament, the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery gathered to welcome and congratulate him. During this special occasion, Rec Liyanagedara met with the Center Commandant, marking a moment of honour for both the athlete and the regiment.

His achievement not only highlights his personal dedication and discipline but also brings significant pride to the Sri Lanka Artillery, showcasing the strength and talent found within its ranks.
