ASSUMED DUTIES AS COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 11TH REGIMENT, SRI LANKA ARTILLERY

Lieutenant Colonel S I P Sirimanna RSP psc IG SLA assumed duties as the 19th Commanding Officer of the 11th Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery on 29 December 2025 at Selvary, Thalaimannar.

The newly appointed Commanding Officer formally assumed command during a ceremonial programme conducted in accordance with military tradition. The proceedings commenced with the review of the Guard Turnout, followed by a ceremonial parade and a brief religious observance, signifying the spiritual sanctification of the occasion. Newly appointed CO then placed his signature on the official assumption of duties document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of command.

As part of the day’s proceedings, the Commanding Officer participated in a group photograph session, followed by the ceremonial planting of a sapling within the camp premises, marking a symbolic gesture of growth, continuity, and future progress. Thereafter, both outgoing and incoming Commanding Officers paid tribute to the fallen war heroes at the "Viru Paura" Monument.

The event concluded at the camp premises with an All Ranks Tea Party at the Gunners’ Mess, followed by the troop address delivered at the lecture hall, bringing the day’s programme to a formal close.
