8th Medium Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery Commemorates 32nd Anniversary
2026-01-03The 8th Medium Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery, commemorated its 32nd Anniversary on 01 January 2026 at the Regimental premises in Murikandy, Kokavil. The event commenced with the Commanding Officer being accorded military honours, including a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, followed by a Regimental Parade, conducted in accordance with established military traditions. In line with the anniversary celebrations, several events were organized prior to the Regimental Day. A Blood Donation Campaign was successfully conducted on 26 December 2025, followed by an Inter Battery Cricket Tournament on 27 December 2025, promoting welfare and camaraderie among troops. Religious observances were also held to invoke blessings upon the Regiment. A Regimental Day Bodhi Pooja took place on 28 December 2025 at the 8 SLA Temple, Murikandy, while a Kovil Pooja was conducted at the Pillayar Kovil, Murikandy, on 29 December 2025. Marking the significance of the day, a newly constructed Water Purification Unit (RO Unit) was inaugurated under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, with the guidance of the Colonel Commandant, enhancing welfare facilities for Regimental personnel. The anniversary celebrations concluded with an All Ranks Lunch hosted by the Commanding Officer, strengthening unity and regimental spirit. The 32nd Anniversary celebration reaffirmed the 8th Medium Regiment’s enduring commitment to tradition, service, and excellence.
