10th Medium Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery Marks 29th Anniversary with Series of Commemorative Events
2026-01-17The 10th Medium Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery, marked its 29th Anniversary with a series of ceremonial, religious, welfare, and sporting activities conducted from 09 to 11 January 2026, reaffirming the Regiment’s proud traditions, operational excellence, and regimental cohesion. The commemorative programme commenced on 09 January 2026 with a community welfare initiative, during which meals were provided to a nursery school at Mathagal, reflecting the Regiment’s commitment to civil–military cooperation and social responsibility. Religious observances followed in the evening, with personnel participating in activities at the Nallur Kovil, Jaffna, and a Bodhi Pooja at the 10 SLA Temple, invoking blessings for the continued prosperity and success of the Regiment. The main ceremonial events were conducted on 10 January 2026. Proceedings commenced with the Commanding Officer being accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, followed by a Regimental Parade conducted in accordance with established military customs and traditions. Thereafter, a sapling-planting programme was carried out in front of the temple, symbolising environmental stewardship and sustainable responsibility. The ceremonial programme concluded with an All Ranks Lunch at the Lecture Hall, fostering unity and morale among all ranks. On 11 January 2026, sporting activities, including a Cricket and Tug-of-War Tournament, were conducted at the 10 SLA Grounds, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and esprit de corps. The anniversary celebrations concluded with an All Ranks Get-Together and Musical Show, further strengthening camaraderie and regimental spirit. The successful conduct of the anniversary celebrations reaffirmed the 10th Medium Regiment’s enduring commitment to professionalism, discipline, and dedicated service to the nation.
