Officers’ Training Day – First Quarter 2026
2026-01-25The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery successfully conducted the Officers’ Training Day for the First Quarter of 2026 on 23 January 2026, with the aim of enhancing physical fitness, professional awareness, and officer camaraderie The day commenced with physical training , followed by breakfast at the Officers’ Mess. Thereafter, officers proceeded to Port City, Colombo, where they received a briefing at the Sales Gallery and later visited the Port City Beach Plaza. A briefing was conducted at the Coral Wall Diving and Research Centre, providing officers with valuable exposure to ongoing developments and initiatives within the Port City project. The visit to Port City provided officers with valuable exposure to a major national development project of strategic importance. It helped enhance understanding of infrastructure, maritime surroundings, and security considerations relevant to future military operations. Such visits support informed planning and coordination in a modern security environment. Lunch was hosted at the Officers’ Mess, followed by an evening recreation session, promoting teamwork and relaxation among officers. The day concluded with a Diners’ Club session at the Officers’ Mess, featuring a lecture titled “Leading Multi-Generational Soldiers: Using Emotional Intelligence to Build Cohesive and Mission-Ready Military Teams”, conducted by Professor Tissa Ravinda Perera PhD, Professor in Management and Organization Studies. The session provided useful insights into leadership and modern military team management. The Officers’ Training Day was conducted successfully, contributing to the professional development, physical well-being, and unity of officers of the Sri Lanka Artillery.
