9th Field Regiment Commemorates 29 Years of Dedicated Service to the Nation

The 9th Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery commemorated its 29th Anniversary with a series of religious, ceremonial, and sporting activities conducted under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Major DLCAK Lekamge IG SLA. The celebrations reflected the Regiment’s proud heritage, high standards of discipline, and strong regimental spirit.

The commemorative programme commenced with sports promoting physical fitness and teamwork, a Cricket Tournament was conducted at the Sinhapura Playground on 17 January 2026.

On 22 January 2026, a Bodhi Pooja was conducted with the participation of all ranks, seeking blessings for peace, unity,strength and further enhancing the spiritual significance of the anniversary celebrations.

The main ceremonial events were held on 23 January 2026. In accordance with long-standing military traditions, proceeding commenced with the Commanding Officer being accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance and followed by the planting of a mango sapling by the Commanding Officer, symbolising environmental responsibility, sustainability, and future growth.

The commemorative programme concluded with a All Ranks Lunch, during which the Commanding Officer addressed the troops, emphasising unity, discipline, and continued dedication to uplift the spirit of the regiment.

The successful conduct of the 29th Anniversary celebrations reaffirmed the 9th Field Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery’s enduring commitment to professionalism, discipline, and dedicated service to the nation.
