5 (V) REGIMENT OF SRI LANKA ARTILLERY MARKS 46TH ANNIVERSARY WITH SERIES OF COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS
2026-01-27The 5 (V) Regiment of the Sri Lanka Artillery proudly celebrated its 46th Anniversary on 22nd January 2026, marking over four decades of excellence service since its establishment. The milestone was commemorated under the guidance and directions of the Commanding Officer, Second In Command and Regimental Sergeant Major of the 5 (V) Regiment, through a series of significant events reflecting tradition, unity, and remembrance. An Inter-Battery Cricket Tournament was held on 19th January, fostering unity, team spirit, and morale among the Gunners of the Regiment. After which, dry ration bags were distributed to the civil servants who are serving in the 5 (V) Regiment. On 21st January , religious observances were held at the War Heroes Monument. A pirith chanting and alms giving to the Maha Sangha were organized to enhance the blessings for peace, prosperity, and the continued success of the Regiment. The anniversary day on 22nd January was marked with full military customs and traditions, beginning with a Ceremonial Guard Turnout and a Regimental Parade presented to the Commanding Officer. The programme continued with a Planting of Sapling, Group Photograph, an All-Ranks Lunch that brought together officers and soldiers in a spirit of unity. On 23rd January concluded the anniversary programme with a get-together of All Ranks. With this successful series of events, the 5 (V) Regiment reaffirmed its commitment to upholding proud regimental traditions while preparing to meet future challenges with resilience, professionalism, and pride.
