New Commander of 212 Infantry Brigade Assumes Duties

Colonel B A T S K Basnayaka RSP USP IG officially assumed duties as the 12th Commander of the 212 Infantry Brigade on 20 May 2026 at the Brigade Headquarters premises in Anuradhapura.

Upon his arrival at the Headquarters, the newly appointed Brigade Commander was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout in honour of his appointment and was warmly received by the Staff Officers and troops of the Brigade in accordance with military traditions. The formal assumption of duties ceremony was conducted amidst religious observances and military customs, signifying the commencement of his tenure as the Commander of the 212 Infantry Brigade.

As part of the day’s proceedings, Colonel B A T S K Basnayaka RSP USP IG planted a sapling at the Brigade Headquarters premises and later addressed the Officers and Other Ranks following the assumption of duties. The Officers and troops of the 212 Infantry Brigade extended their best wishes to the new Brigade Commander for a successful tenure ahead.
