WO I WMCI Wijekoon was Awarded as the Best Sportsman of the Year 2011
2012-01-06Army Colours award ceremony 2011 was held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on 05 January 2012. Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. There were 27 Artillery Officers & other ranks who were eligible for colours awards for year 2011 and 01 Officer & 10 other sportsmen of Artillery were awarded Colours during the ceremony.WO 1Wijekoon was awarded as the best sportsman of the year for his achievments while Lt Ajantha Mendis was amoung the best achievers of year 2011 by creating world record on T 20 cricket as the best bowler. Regiment of Artillery congratulates all sportsmen for their achievements.
