New Artillery Seva Vanitha Chairperson Assumed Duties

Mrs Priyangani Jayasundara assumed office as 13th President of the Sri Lanka Artillery SevaVanitha Branch on 25th June 2016 at a brief function held at Regimental Officers' Mess, panagoda giving priorities to religious observances. Mrs Manolanka Wickramrathne, the Vice Prasident, handed over the duties to Mrs Priyangani Jayasundara at the auspicious time extending her warm wishes to the new president and all members of the Branch.

Taking over ceremony was followed by General Meeting. All ladies observed a two minutes silence to commemorate the War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland at the outset of the General Meeting. Lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the new chairperson Mrs Priyangani Jayasundara and senior members of the Seva Vanitha Branch denoted the commencement of the day's proceedings.

Mrs Priyangani Jayasundara addressing the gathering, made a brief description of the initiatives she wishes to implement during her tenure as the President of Seva Vanitha Branch. She explained that her priority is with providing benefits to the war heroes and their families and requested the assistance of all members to make her efforts a success. New Treasurer was also appointed during the General Meeting. Mrs Yashanti Weerawadhana was conferred with responsibilities as Treasurer of the Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch.

In order to mark the taking over ceremony, a monetary donation was held for completion of on-going house construction of a Gunner member and a crutches were donated to the close relation of a gunner member at his request.
