Sri Lanka Artillery Marks its 130th Regimental Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony to Revere War Heroes
2018-04-21The prime event of marking the celebration of 130th regimental anniversary got underway at the Regimental Monument, Panagoda on 20 April 2018 by paying tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery.
General (Rtd) Srilal Weerasooriya, a former Commander of the Army graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment,
Major General Priyantha Jayasundara welcomed the former Commander.
The Chief Guest, Colonel Commandant, Commander Artillery Brigade, Centre Commandant, All Commanding Officers, Regiment Sergeant Majors and next of kin of those who made supreme sacrifice laid floral wreaths to denote their respect and gratitude to officers & men who sacrificed their lives for the future of the Mother Land.
In the evening, all night Pirith chanting ceremony was began and concluded with the offer of alms giving to Maha Sanga on 21 Friday morning where religious blessings were invoked on the heroic Gunners who were killed in action and wounded in action.
A large gathering of serving and retired Gunner officers, other rankers and families of war heroes took part in the day's events.
